December 29, 2021 - Governor Mike Parson announced today he has appointed former Senator and current State Representative Wayne Wallingford as the next Director of Revenue.
Former Senator Wallingford served as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee in the Senate and now serves as Ways and Means Chairman in the Missouri House.
Prior to serving in the legislature, Wallingford served in the United States Air Force from 1968 – 1993. He was awarded the Silver Star, a Distinguished Flying Cross, 20 air medals including an Air Force Commendation Medal (for Heroism) and the Aerial Achievement Medal. "Associated Industries of Missouri applauds Governor Parson's appointment of Sen. Wallingford as the next Director of Revenue," said Ray McCarty, president/CEO of Associated Industries of Missouri (AIM). "I have enjoyed working with Director Wallingford during his tenure in the Missouri legislature and I look forward to working with him in this new role," he said.
The AIM Tax Committee, with more than 200 members, is the largest tax committee of any business advocacy organization in Missouri. The Committee's goal is to work with the Department of Revenue to ensure the tax laws are administered as fairly as possible for Missouri taxpayers and we are optimistic we will get fair treatment during Director Wallingford's administration.
"Wayne has proven himself as a leader in state government and has extensive executive level management experience in the corporate world and as a decorated U.S. military veteran," Governor Parson said. "We look forward to him implementing his vision at the Department of Revenue and providing the best possible service to the citizens of Missouri."
Director Wallingford will begin as Director of Revenue January 3, 2022.
