Missouri House and Senate Override Veto of HB 650 to Protect Missouri Jobs
The Missouri House and Missouri Senate voted today to override Gov. Nixon’s veto of HB 650. The bill establishes responsible limits on punitive damages that may be levied against owners of inactive mining sites that ceased operation prior to January 1, 1975. The bill was supported by AIM and was necessary to protect around 1,600 Missouri jobs at the Doe Run Company and about 6,000 indirect Missouri jobs supported by the company.
We thank the Missouri House and Senate for taking this action in support of Missouri jobs.
