The cost of child care is a significant barrier for working families, often limiting participation in the workforce, which can have a big impact on the business bottom line. There is a new statewide program, Child Care Works, that helps employers address workforce recruitment and retention by offering child care cost share benefits. This program shares in the cost of child care by having employers, the state of Missouri, and the employee share the cost of child care for eligible employees. Plus, for-profit employers who offer a child care benefit to their employees may be eligible for a federal tax credit equal to 40% of the benefits they offer (or 50% in the case of small businesses) known as 45F.

Employers across Missouri can participate in Child Care Works. In St. Louis specifically, the James S. McDonnell Foundation will contribute toward employees' child care costs, which significantly reduces the employer’s costs.

Child Care Aware of Missouri and Kids Win Missouri are hosting two virtual sessions on April 30 at 10am and 2pm to provide an overview of Child Care Works. Please sign up at one of the links below to learn more.
