House passes tort reform bills to reduce out-of-state abuse of Missouri liberal courts

HCS HB 460, HB 461 and HB 462 (Kolkmeyer) are designed to keep out-of-state plaintiffs from inappropriately accessing liberal courts in St. Louis City for claims that have little to nothing to do with Missouri plaintiffs, defendants, or locations of events.

AIM supports fixing the current system that is abused by plaintiffs’ attorneys, leading to the recent designation of St. Louis City as the #1 Judicial Hellhole by the American Tort Reform Association (ATRA).

The bills have now received approval by the House and will now be sent to the Senate for further consideration.
