July 11, 2025 - Yesterday, Governor Mike Kehoe signed the American Beer Act, a provision that will reduce Missouri’s excise tax on beer produced by American breweries from $0.06 per gallon to $0.02 per gallon.
"Missouri's manufacturing sector, particularly its esteemed beer industry, is a crucial economic engine for the state," said Matthew Smith, VP of Government Relations for Associated Industries of Missouri. "The American Beer Act is essential to safeguard this vital industry against the concerning trend of American beer production shifting abroad. Supporting Missouri and American breweries not only recognizes the hard work of Missourians and American workers but also preserves the legacy and economic impact of this key sector within the state.
We believe HB 1041 will send a clear and powerful message to American brewers, both in Missouri and nationwide, that Missouri stands firmly in support of American manufacturers.
