Worker’s Compensation Bill Passed by General Assembly

March 7 – The Missouri House gave final approval to SB 572 today.  The bill fixes the worker’s compensation statute in two ways: including occupational disease within the work comp system; and preventing employees from suing each other for work-related accidents that are covered under work comp. Our thanks to the bill’s sponsor, Senate Majority Floor Leader Tom Dempsey, for his leadership in passing the bill.

Associated Industries of Missouri helped lead the charge on the bill and we are pleased the bill is now on its way to Governor Nixon.  We believe the Governor should sign the bill because it helps protect workers that need quick treatment for occupational disease and helps protect workers from lawsuits when they are simply performing their work duties.
