Wanted: Your ideas for legislation

Associated Industries of Missouri wants your ideas…soon!

It’s that time of year again…time to talk about legislative priorities for the upcoming session of the Missouri General Assembly. And AIM wants to hear from you.

“In some associations, ideas for legislation come from a select few staff or members of the association,” said AIM president Ray McCarty. “At AIM, our legislative agenda is driven by the needs of our members.  We want to hear the challenges you face in your day-to-day business, and your ideas for dealing with them.”

In years past, McCarty has barnstormed across the state in October, meeting with groups in central locations to sample opinions and talk about strategies with representatives of businesses that were able to take time out of their work schedules.  Our idea for a business income tax deduction came from a meeting with one of our members that was not able to make it to the regional meetings.

“I always felt we missed out on good ideas from people who simply weren’t able to make it to the meetings,” said McCarty.

AIM’s legislative priorities will be decided during a mid-November meeting of the board of directors, so now is the time to start thinking and communicating with us.

“This is your association. We want to help you improve your business any way we can,” said McCarty. “If you have concerns on any front that you think the state can help you with, give me a call or drop me an email and we will work to help you.”

Ray McCarty can be reached at rmccarty@aimo.com, or by phone at (573) 634-2246.
