U.S. labor market tightening

The amount of Americans who filed for unemployment benefits fell last week. This indicates the strong economy will help the United States survive trade tensions.

According to the Labor department, claims for state unemployment benefits slipped 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 213,000 for the week ending Aug. 4. Data for the prior week was revised to show 1,000 more applications received than previously reported.
