U.S. Dept. of Defense awards $2.2 billion contract to Boeing - work to be done in Missouri

The U.S. Department of Defense said in a press release September 24, 2020, that the U.S. Air Force had awarded a contract to The Boeing Company worth $2,239,707,532.

The contract is for the Small Diameter Bomb (pictured above). The work will be performed in St. Charles, MO, and is expected to be complete by September 2027.


"This contract is another example of the importance of Missouri's largest manufacturer, The Boeing Company, on the economy and the important work they are doing in St. Charles and St. Louis," said Ray McCarty, president and CEO of Associated Industries of Missouri. "We applaud the quality work done by the men and women of Boeing and congratulate them on this important success."

According to the DOD release, the contract involves Foreign Military Sales to Australia, Belgium, Israel, Japan, Korea, Netherlands and Norway.
