Statute of limitations bill advances in Senate

February 22, 2021 - Senate Bill 3, sponsored by Sen. Dan Hegeman, has cleared the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee. The bill would reduce the statute of limitations in civil cases from Missouri's extraordinary long 5 years to two years.

A statute of limitations of two years or less exists in all but one of Missouri's border states and would allow Missouri to join a majority of other states in having a statute of two years or less.
