Senate tax cut bill in state of flux

The battle to bring a broad-based tax cut up for a vote in the Missouri Senate continues, with no end in sight at the present time.

Sen. Will Kraus (R-Independence) Monday changed his Senate Bill 509 that had at one time carried tax cutting language into a bill that capped low income housing and historic tax credits only.

When Sen. Kraus brought the bill up for debate, Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-St. Louis) offered two amendments that would enact broad-based tax cuts. Debate on the bill ended a short time later.

Debate on the bill may continue at a later date.
