Senate confirms appointment of plaintiffs’ attorney to Labor and Industrial Relations Commissi

The Missouri Senate today confirmed Governor Jay Nixon’s appointment of a prominent trial attorney as chairman of the Missouri Labor and Industrial Relations Commission.

Associated Industries of Missouri opposes this appointment.  “Mr. Larsen’s background as a prominent trial attorney representing clients that oppose employers will prevent him from being unbiased in this important role as chairman of this commission,” said Ray McCarty, president of Associated Industries of Missouri. “We need a labor commission that provides a fair forum for employees and employers to resolve differences in cases involving appeals of workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, crime victims’ compensation and tort victims’ compensation cases.”

A graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law, Larsen has previously served on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and has served as Vice-Chair on the Workers’ Compensation Committee of the Missouri Bar Association. In 2011, he was elected to the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. The Governor has appointed him for a term ending June 27, 2018.
