Ray McCarty testified Thursday morning in favor of HB 151, a bill that would provide Missouri citizens the option to obtain a REAL ID compliant drivers license.
Not providing this option could jeopardize Missouri’s relative position when the federal government is reviewing military bases for closure. It would also hurt economic development because companies need their employees to have the ability to travel by air without restriction. The impact on businesses that must deliver to military bases or that do business on military bases should also be considered.
Kentucky has fixed this issue by providing a REAL ID option and the Missouri legislature should do the same.
HB 151 has not yet moved out of committee.
