Ray McCarty, President/CEO of Associated Industries of Missouri, spoke alongside Eric Stafford, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, at RubinBrown’s 2016 Kansas and Missouri Tax Legislation seminar on Tuesday.
RubinBrown held the conference in St. Louis and Kansas City, both featuring McCarty as a guest speaker. The seminar provided an overview of the legislative session, a review of recent court rulings and their potential impact, and information on tax legislation, economic development and employment legislation.
McCarty presented a full list of important bills, designated which legislator sponsored each and explained the Governor’s actions on the bills. Bills involving taxes, economic development, healthcare, tort and legal matters, workers’ compensation, insurance and unemployment were all discussed.
The event was free and breakfast was provided. Attendees were given an opportunity to network with each other, as well as earn CPE credits.
“AIM thanks RubinBrown for inviting us to participate in this conference,” said McCarty. “It was also great to learn that business advocates in both Kansas and Missouri are tackling some of the same business issues. We are always glad to participate in these seminars and share information that can make both of our jobs easier,” McCarty said.
