Gracia Backer, the first woman to serve as a Missouri House leader, said she was fired from her job in the Missouri Department of Labor in 2013 because she complained to Nixon’s office that her boss, former DOL Director Larry Rebman, created a hostile work environment. The case has ended in a $2 million settlement for Backer and her lawyer. But that is only one of more than 100 cases filed against members of Nixon’s administration since 2011, according to the Kansas City Star.
