From NFIB – Missouri
Brad Jones, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business said today that small businesses are urging legislators to override Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto of House Bill 722, a bill that would prevent local governments from imposing their own minimum wages:
“Our members believe that the minimum wage should be consistent throughout the state and that allowing local governments to dictate their own higher wages will create hardships for many small, family businesses. Our members believe that raising the cost of labor in one city or county will put them at a competitive disadvantage with businesses in neighboring communities.
“That’s why NFIB/Missouri is urging the Legislature to override the governor’s veto of H.B. 722 and ensure there is a single minimum wage throughout the state.”
