Monsanto wins Indian patent case expected to spur ag investment

The Indian Supreme Court restored Monsanto’s patent claim on genetically modified cotton.

The ruling overturned an April decision by the High Court of Delhi that items such as seeds, plants and animals can’t be patented.

This ends a years-long legal battle between the Indian government and Monsanto, the Creve Coeur-based seed maker now owned by Bayer.
