Missouri unemployment rate reaches 5 percent

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – According to seasonally adjusted data released today by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Missouri’s unemployment rate fell by three-tenths of a point in October to 5.0 percent, the lowest rate since April 2007. Missouri’s non-farm payroll employment also increased by 1,400 jobs over the month.

Among the industries that experienced increases in employment in October were Health Care & Social Assistance with 5,500 new jobs, Construction with 2,800 new jobs, and Professional & Business Services with 3,700 new jobs. September employment estimates were also revised up by 5,000.
