The Missouri Senate tonight passed a “Right to Work” bill, SCS HB 116, sponsored by Rep. Eric Burlison, after 9 hours of debate. To pass the bill, the leadership and the floor handler of the bill, Senator Dan Brown, employed a rare motion in the Missouri Senate: a previous question motion.
The bill was passed by a vote of 20-14, two votes short of the number needed to override a nearly certain veto by Governor Jay Nixon.
The bill now moves to the Missouri House for further consideration as the changes made in the Senate must be adopted or rejected by the Missouri House.
