MFG Day is October 5, 2018

Manufacturing Day is just around the corner and we need your help to celebrate one of Missouri’s top industries. This year, the official date is Oct. 5. However, you can celebrate any time around that date or throughout the month of October.

To sustain this important industry in our state and our communities, manufacturing companies need to attract the next generation of workers to fill in-demand and vacant jobs. *Did you know more than 25 percent of the manufacturing workforce is positioned to retire within the next 10 years and that less than five percent of the manufacturing workforce is between the ages of 18 and 29?

Manufacturing Day is the perfect time to expose your youth to this growing, modern industry. Last year, an estimated 225,000 students had their attitudes toward manufacturing improved thanks to MFG DAY events.

Hold an Event: Show your support for manufacturing in your community by recognizing manufacturers who are committed to your community. Perhaps you could acknowledge those who have expanded over the year or taken part in a workforce development program. Perhaps they recently launched a new product line or acquired an industry certification and are positioned to better compete on a global level.

Invite Your Schools: From middle school to high school, these kids need to be exposed to the high-tech world of advanced manufacturing. From robotics to 3D printing, artificial intelligence to augmented and virtual reality, manufacturing is a modern industry where advancements in technology take place daily. Manufacturing careers include engineers, IT and marketing professionals, fabricators, machinists, production managers, quality control inspectors, human resources, accountants, designers, purchasing agents, supply & warehousing professionals and so much more.

Issue a Local Proclamation: Your county commissioner, city mayor or other local official can issue a proclamation for Manufacturing Day and issue a press release. Your local official can download a fillable proclamation from our page.

Request a “Manufacturing Day Supporter” Banner: For a limited time (& with limited supplies), we are printing customized and durable banners for organizations to display and complement their Manufacturing Day activities. To order one, click here. (Orders must be submitted no later than Sept. 7, 2018)

We want to hear from you and recognize your efforts on our Manufacturing Day website. Visit our site and let us know how you plan to celebrate this industry in your community. For additional information on how to coordinate a successful event, visit the national MFGDay website. Be sure to take lots of photos and don’t forget to tag us @MOEnterprise, using the #MoMFGDay hashtag!

* The data was extracted from a third-party study we commissioned. It was completed in March 2018 and is based on responses from hundreds of Missouri manufacturers.
