The Missouri Senate today approved without changes HCS HB 1 (Rep. Rone/ Sen. Libla), a bill that would allow the largest utility users in the state operating aluminum smelters or steel manufacturing facilities to obtain special utility rates.

The bill was requested by Governor Greitens who called the special session for the purpose of passing the special rate and a new ratemaking procedure for electric utilities. The special rate was truly agreed and finally passed in the special session that lasted one week. The new ratemaking procedure was removed from the bill in the first committee version of the bill.

The bill now goes to Governor Greitens for his signature.
