KC-made F-150 posts best April sales in 11 years

From the Kansas City Business Journal

The Ford F-150, the only truck to earn an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick, helped boost F-series sales past 70,000 for the second month in a row.

Associated Industries of Missouri Chairman’s Council member Ford Motor Co. reported 70,774 F-series truck sales in April, up 12.6 percent from last year, making it the best tally for the month in 11 years. The truck is manufactured at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo.

“We saw strong consumer demand in April, especially for pickups,” Mark LaNeve, Ford’s vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service, said in a release. “F-series has moved past the quarter-million sales mark year-to-date — the strongest start for F-series in a decade, while Ford brand SUVs are having their best year ever.”

Also assembled in Kansas City, the Ford Transit van saw April sales jump 31.8 percent compared to last year to 14,381.

Overall, Ford saw its April sales increase 4 percent to 231,316.
