House gives first round approval to Statute of Repose

April 16, 2019 – The Missouri House of Representatives gave first round approval today to HB 186, filed by Rep. Curtis Trent, that would establish a statute of repose in Missouri for claims alleging manufacturing defects.

Associated Industries of Missouri (AIM) fully supports establishing a statute of repose in Missouri.

“Many other states have these statutes which prevent lawsuits alleging manufacturing defects after a certain period of time,” said Ray McCarty, president and CEO of AIM. “The length of time allowed in this bill is more than most other states, but it is a start.”
