Gov. Parson issues Executive Order establishing Show Me Strong Recovery Task Force, includes AIM

March 23, 2021 - Governor Mike Parson today announced a new "Show Me Strong Recovery Task Force" to study and develop recommendations on ways to support small businesses, including minority-owned businesses, throughout the state. The Task Force will also consider ways to better engage minority-owned businesses through existing economic development tools.

In the Executive Order, Governor Parson invited Associated Industries of Missouri to submit three names for potential selection as task force members. The three individuals should "represent geographical, ethnic, and gender diversity from across the state." Many other task force members are also detailed in the Executive Order.

“COVID-19 had an overwhelming impact on businesses and communities across the state, but our economy continues to come back strong,” Governor Parson said. “We have made great progress in a short amount of time, and we must remain vigilant in our efforts and ensure our small businesses have the support they need to recover and succeed.”

"We are honored our organization will have input into the makeup of the task force and we look forward to working for the common goal of helping all businesses, including small businesses and minority-owned businesses recover from the COVID crisis," said Jerry M. Hunter, Chairman of the Board of Associated Industries of Missouri.

The Task Force must submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor by December 31, 2021.
