Ford, ranked as the best-selling brand in America, has canceled plans to build a new manufacturing plant in Mexico as a “vote of confidence” in President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge to create a pro-business environment. Instead, they will invest $700 million in their Flat Rock, Mich. plant, creating 700 jobs.
“We didn’t cut a deal with Trump,” Ford CEO Mark Fields told CNN. “We did it for our business.”
U.S. taxpayers lost $11.3 billion in the federal bailout of GM following the 2009 financial crisis. Ford did not take a bailout.
