Dems to take Lt. Governor challenge to Missouri Supreme Court

The Missouri Democratic Party is still challenging Mike Kehoe’s appointment, despite a judge ruling that authority lies with the Governor.

Darrell Cope and the Missouri Democratic Party had their lawsuit dismissed on July 11, 2018. Judge Jon Beetum ruled that they did not have the standing to bring forth the lawsuit.

Beetem cited Article IV of the Missouri Constitution, which states, “The governor shall fill all vacancies in public offices unless otherwise provided by law…”
