Boeing is celebrating the first jet to be inducted into the Service Life Modification (SLM) program and production line. The SLM will support U.S. Navy capacity and capability needs through service life extension and modernization of its Super Hornet fleet. SLM will take in four Super Hornets this year which are near the end of service life, and eventually up to 40 jets per year between facilities in St. Louis and San Antonio. The Super Hornets will be returned to the Navy with additional flight life that will make them available into the next decade.
