Allied Healthcare closing St. Louis plant affecting 160 jobs


December 29, 2022 - On December 20, 2022, Allied Healthcare Products, Inc., sent notice to the State of Missouri that it will permanently close its plant and corporate headquarters at 1720 Sublette Ave., in St. Louis, beginning February 21, 2023.


The WARN Act Notice details the 160 jobs by position and states that some of the affected workers are represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. According to the SEC filing, the closure will result in the "termination of substantially all of the Company’s union employees." Included in the list are 29 assemblers, 16 packer material handlers, multiple other production personnel, as well as white collar positions from the president/CEO position on down.


Allied Healthcare Products says it is a leading manufacturer of ventilators, medical gas systems, life support products, and other home and hospital patient care products. The company's roots go back to the 1930's when the company began as a producer of gas cylinders for hospitals.
