AIM supports “Shared Work” bills in House and Senate

Associated Industries of Missouri president Ray McCarty this week spoke out in favor of House and Senate bills that change the provisions of the Shared Work Unemployment Compensation Program.

Sen. Bob Dixon (R-Springfield) sponsors SB844 and Rep. Jeanie Lauer (R-Blue Springs) sponsors HB1713. The bills make changes to the state program to allow it to continue to comply with the federal program requirements.

“We applaud the quick action by these legislators on this issue,” said McCarty, who testified at House and Senate committee hearings on the bills Monday and Tuesday. “These bills will keep the state in compliance with federal standards on a program that is very important and useful for our members.”

The bills must still be voted on in their committees before moving on in the process.
