Ameren Missouri is spending $25 million to replace outdated infrastructure, underground cables, and adding technology to better serve downtown customers.
There will be more than 100 significant projects downtown in 2016, utilizing at the peak 80-90 Ameren Missouri Workers and contractors. An estimated 80 manholes will be rebuilt, in addition to installing 100,000 feet of conduit and 24,000 feet of cable.
Energy demand continues to grow in the city, said Ameren Missouri officials.
The company is inviting downtown residents, business owners, and public and city officials to a Reliability Fair Monday night from 6-9 p.m. at the newly opened National Blues Museum. Ameren Missouri employees will be available to answer questions and provide information about projects and progress downtown.
Ameren Missouri is part of St. Louis-based Ameren Corp. (NYSE: AEE), and serves 1.2 million customers in Missouri, including 130,000 gas customers.
