Rod Reid, VP and co-owner of Shepherd Hills Factory Outlets and member of the Board of Directors of Associated Industries of Missouri, was featured on a panel discussing the impact of the federal tax cuts sponsored by America First on July 11, 2018 in Kansas City.

The main guest at the event was Vice President of the United States Mike Pence. He was introduced by Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley who is also a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

Vice President Pence delivered a message of “promises made, promises kept” and listed the numerous accomplishments of the Trump Administration in the first 18 months: lowest number of people receiving unemployment benefits in 40+ years, record levels of GDP, lowest tax burden on businesses and individuals, etc. The message was well received by the audience.

Rod Reid talked about the real-world impact of the federal tax cuts. He said customers have more money to spend and as they spend money, they are stimulating the economy, which adds to the positive impact of the tax cuts. When questioned about labor statistics that imply wages are not increasing, Reid replied, “They aren’t living in the real world. Employers are competing for workers and that raises wages…” he said.
