US businesses cast wider net as jobless rate hits 3.9 pct.

The unemployment rate in the United States is at a five decade low.

Businesses are adding hours for part-timers and converting contractors to full-time workers. Workers with fewer skills are better able to get jobs.

According to the Labor Department, Employers added 157,000 jobs last month.

The unemployment rate went down 3.9 percent from 4 percent.
