The Voice of Mo. Business on the Voice of St. Louis

On July 3, Ray McCarty, president and CEO of Associated Industries of Missouri, the “Voice of Missouri Business®” was a guest on the Charlie Brennan show on KMOX, the “Voice of St. Louis.”

Ray discussed the importance of the Export-Import Bank of the United States to Missouri businesses doing business abroad.

“Other countries have such banks to allow their manufacturers to compete. This is NOT a government subsidy – how can it be when it generates positive income for the U.S. Treasury? No private banks would touch this book of business, and that is why it is so important that the Ex-Im Bank be reauthorized by Congress when they return to work,” said McCarty.

McCarty also discussed the pending ozone regulations under consideration by Obama’s EPA. The regulations threaten to make nearly the entire state of Missouri a non-attainment area.

“If implemented at the 65 parts per billion level, all but 3 counties in the State of Missouri would be non-attainment areas – essentially establishing a ‘no grow zone.’  We could not add businesses that emit any ozone without losing a corresponding business, hampering job growth in Missouri and America,” said McCarty.

McCarty pointed out these issues are bipartisan issues and the entire Missouri delegation in Congress appears to support Ex-Im Bank and opposed the strict and unreasonable ozone standard changes by the EPA.

John Hancock and Megan Shackleford were guest hosting for Charlie Brennan, and they conducted the interview.
