Senator Blunt explains real issue is check and balance between branches of government

While President Obama will talk to the American people tonight regarding immigration policies he plans to implement without Congressional approval, Senator Roy Blunt (R-Mo) spoke Wednesday on the Senate floor about the importance of checks and balances at the federal level of government.

Missourians voted to provide a check and balance on the power of our governor to withhold budgeted funds with their approval of Amendment 10, an amendment supported by Associated Industries of Missouri.

“Our system of government depends on the ability of one branch of government to have some dependency on the other branches of government,” said Ray McCarty. “That is why it works as well as it does. When one elected branch of governments starts ignoring the need to consult the other elected branch of government, the ability for the public to have input and transparency of the process is lost,” said McCarty.
