On March 19, by a vote of 233–181, the House approved S.J. Res. 8, a joint resolution to disapprove the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) “ambush elections” rule, which will be effective April 14. The resolution now heads to the President’s desk for his signature—a welcome, though unlikely, outcome.
The NAM key-voted in support of S.J. Res. 8 in both the House and Senate and will continue to push back against this unfair and antidemocratic labor rule with a multipronged campaign on Capitol Hill, in the courts and in the media. It is critical that manufacturers hold the NLRB accountable and remind it of its role as a neutral referee.
In January, the NAM filed suit in U.S. District Court to stop the NLRB from moving forward with this unwarranted rule. We also took to the pages of one of the most influential legal publications, the National Law Journal, to argue against the rule’s anti-privacy provisions.

The NAM’s Manufacturers’ Center for Legal Action will continue to work to rein in regulatory overreach, protect our hard-fought legislative gains and ensure a level playing field for manufacturers.
