NAM: Manufacturers add 5,000 jobs in October

US News & World Report (10/31, Kurtzleben) reports private sector employers added 130,000 jobs in October, according to a report by payroll processor ADP. Manufacturers added 5,000 jobs.

USA Today (10/30, Malcolm) reports ADP President and CEO Carlos Rodriguez said in a company statement that the jobs performance among private sector employers was “well below the average of the last 12 months.”

The AP (10/30, Wiseman) reports the partial Federal “government shutdown slowed an already-weak job market.”
