KP Development, a member of AIM, has detailed a $222 million mixed-use project on the site of a former Chrysler manufacturing plant in Fenton, reports the St. Louis Business Journal.
The Chrysler manufacturing plant, one of two that have been permanently closed for approximately seven years, is a former employment hub for the St. Louis and Southwestern Illinois areas. A report by AECOM measures the closings of both plants left a $15 billion impact on St. Louis and a total of 43,00 jobs directly and indirectly lost.
According to an article written by Fox2now St. Louis, the lot is a speculated ‘anchor’ to a full-scale retail center, including restaurants, shops, and hotels. We can expect a venue for professional hockey, concerts, graduations, conferences, competitions, and tournaments from the redevelopment.
