The Missouri House this week gave preliminary passage to an AIM-supported bill that would allow the enforcement of arbitration agreements between employers and at-will employees.
House Bill 1718, sponsored by Rep. Kevin Corlew , provides that arbitration agreements between an employer and an at-will employee may be enforced.
The bill requires the employer and employee to jointly determine the arbitrator – often a retired judge. The arbitration process is less expensive and generally results in quicker decisions.
HB 1718 was perfected in the House by a vote of 89-62. It faces a final vote before moving on to the Senate.
