Ford Motor Co. is adding lots of new options to the new 2016 Transit van produced at its Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo.

The new van, which will hit dealership showroom floors by September, will be offered in 58 vehicle configurations — up from 47 in the 2015 model. The increased configurations are primarily due to the introduction of an option for dual sliding cargo doors on medium- and high-roof models. It gives the Ford Transit the most configurations of any vehicle in its class.

Also now available in the new 2016 Transit is Ford’s Sync 3 communications and entertainment system, which is Ford’s major upgrade to its former MyFord Touch system. The Sync 3 offers better voice control and a touchscreen that operates similar to a smartphone, with easy-to-read graphics.

Ford also added a rearview camera and trailer hitch assist system to all 2016 Transits. It also comes with an option on the cutaway and chassis cab models for display on the rearview mirror.
