Dept. of Economic Development issues April 2019 jobs report: unemployment at near-historic lows

Missouri non-farm payroll employment increased by 11,800 jobs in April. Missouri’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 3.3 percent.

Job growth and record low unemployment drive workforce needs: 

  1. The number of jobs in the state continues to rise.

  2. Missouri’s economy added 11,800 jobs this month.

  3. Unemployment remained steady at near record lows. Missouri’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.3 percent. Out of the roughly 3 million individuals in Missouri’s civilian labor force, 101,701 were unemployed in April.

Missouri sees over the year job gains across key industries:

  1. Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+6,000 jobs, up 3.7 percent)

  2. Accommodation and Food Services (+7,300 jobs, up 2.8 percent)

  3. Manufacturing (+6,500 jobs, up 2.4 percent)

  4. Health Care and Social Assistance (+9,900 jobs, up 2.3 percent)
