The Missouri Department of Economic Development released its November 2017 Jobs Report. The report indicated a reduction in unemployment by a tenth of a point to 3.4 percent. Nonfarm payroll employment grew by 2,500 jobs, reaching 2,894,400.
The unemployment rate has fallen by 1.1 percentage points over the past year. The last time Missouri’s unemployment rate was lower than 3.4 percent was in May 2000.
For comparison, the U.S. seasonally adjusted rate in November was 4.1 percent. Missouri’s seasonally adjusted rate has been below the comparable national rate for 32 consecutive months.
Over the past year, Missouri employers have added 30,200 jobs, for growth of 1.1 percent.
