The unemployment rate has been edging down from the 3.7 percent level since the start of the year.   Missouri’s rate has now been lower than the comparable U.S. rate (currently 3.9 percent) for 39 consecutive months.

The July not-seasonally-adjusted rate was 3.8 percent in Missouri, compared to the U.S. figure of 4.1.

Employment has been trending upward, increasing by 8,800 jobs between May and July and by 34,700 (1.2%) since July 2017.  Over-the-year growth occurred in most reported industries.
