AIM Environmental webinar postponed to August 22

For those of you expecting news about the upcoming AIM Environmental Committee webinar we have some…the date is moving.

Originally scheduled for Thursday August 14, the webinar will now take place on Friday August 22 at 10:00 a.m.

The reason why we have pushed the webinar back is because of significant events that will take place on August 21 that all members of AIM should know about.

First, August 21 is the date of the AIM seminar “EPA’s Clean Power Plan: What Missouri Businesses Need to Know”. This will be a short “lunch and learn” seminar held in the lower level conference room at the AIM building in Jefferson City. The seminar will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Speakers include Fred Palmer, Senior Vice President of Governmental Relations for Peabody Energy; Warren Wood, Vice President of External Affairs & Communications for Ameren Missouri; and Ray McCarty, AIM President.

The EPA is issuing new regulations that will significantly raise your electricity costs if they are implemented without some key changes. Find out how these new regulations will impact your business’ bottom, the critical changes that need to be made to the regulations, and how you can help.

A complimentary lunch will be served. To make reservations, contact Candice Allen at callen@aimo.com or by phone at (573) 634-2246. You can also register electronically by clicking on this link

During the webinar, Ray will take a look back at the seminar and bring us up to date on any new information gleaned from the discussion.

Also taking place on August 21 will be a meeting of stakeholders participating in the Department of Natural Resources Air Pollution Control Program fee proposal to the Air Conservation Commission.

DNR notes several issues of concern have been raised about the proposal’s fee levels for intermediate and Part 70 operating permits. There is also some concern about the compressed process and the fact that the new law allowing adjustment of the permit and asbestos fees is not effective until August 28.

AIM lobbyist David Overfelt who will be at the DNR meeting, will brief us on the situation during the webinar, and he wants to hear from you if you have suggestions or concerns.

So please plan to join us for this important webinar on August 22 at 10:00 a.m. Look for invitations in your email soon.
