The 2015 Associated Industries of Missouri Extension Industry Award was given last week to Chrystal Irons, a University of Missouri Extension Business Development Specialist now assigned to Christian County in southwest Missouri.
Irons was recognized for her outstanding record of business development and retention, mostly during her previous posting in Taney County, where she exceeded her economic impact goals as she continued to focus on improving the local economy. For example: in the area of new businesses – she exceeded her goal by 60 percent, her goal for increasing sales was exceeded by 69 percent, and her goal for job retention was exceeded by 155 percent.
Irons is also an integral part of the small business ACA curriculum development. She assisted with the statewide training for other Specialists and offered the program outside of her region in Kansas City, working with the U.S. Small Business Administration KC District Office.
The Associated Industries of Missouri Extension Industry Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates leadership in providing educational programs that support the economic viability of Missouri firms.
AIM Director of Membership Rachel Groner was on hand in Columbia last Thursday night at the annual Missouri Small Business & Technology Development Centers dinner to help present the award to Chrystal Irons.
